After a blazing we started the month of August out. But were heating up as last night we picked up our winner in our past five championships. And last nights win came on my type of winner! Yesterday we remained hot when we supported the Minnesota Twins in the road, against the Texas Rangers.
The general betting public puts way too much focus about a games starting pitching matchup when evaluating who to bet on. This was the case last night as Lance Lynn, whos having a good season for Texas, pushed this amount towards the Rangers, despite the fact that Texas had lost nine out of its last eleven games, and have been a whopping fifteen matches back of the Twins entering play.
So, I backed the staff, and did everything I really like to do, and thats position myself on the opposite side of the general betting public, also picked up some dog money along the way. And in the long run, Martin Perez for Minnesota, really outpitched Lynn in this particular one. Perez pitched five innings of two-run ballwhile Lynn pitched five innings and allowed three earned runs.
The Twins jumped out to see that the Rangers battle back and tie the game up late. However, when Jorge Polanco crushed a triple at the very top the inning and removed the bases, it put away the game for Minnesota for good. It feels like common sense to bet on the group that is better, but as they say, common sense aint all that common.
You have to jump around it if you find spots where you are able to snatch up dog cash on a team that is fifteen games better than their competitor. For the choice of today, we head to Tampa Bay in which the Mariners are hosted by the Rays.
Even the Seattle Mariners, winners of two straight show, visit Tampa Bay Monday for game among a three-game show. Wins have been hard to come by this season for Seattle since theyve suffered a number of high impact injuries and traded off just. However they are doing an adequate job of battling here in the dog days of summer and have discovered a way to win four.
For Tampa Bay, since they have a game and a half lead about the Oakland Athletics for the last playoff spot in the league, theyre attempting to hang onto the wild card at the American League. Because their starting rotation is decimated, tampa is suffering through injuries in their own. Though as they have won eleven from the last fifteen 18, that has not slowed down them.
Beginning for the Mariners tonight is the genius, Marco Gonzalez (12-10 4.26 ERA) and to the Rays, its Brendan McKay (2-2 5.08 ERA). The match is set in eight and a half conducts. The Rays are -179 home favorites. First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 PM PST in Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.
The Tampa Bay Rays are currently attempting to hang and slip into the play with no much of a rotation. Blake Snell, last years Cy Young Award winner, is out with an injury, but he could be heading back to the team shortly. Along with the Rays are also enjoying without Tyler Glasnow, that was looking for this years Cy Young Award winner before going down this year. The Rays are forced to play without Charlie Morton and Yonny Chirinos occasionally .
But despite all of those accidents, the Rays are among the better pitching staffs in the majors this season. The Rays are top three in the sport WHIP, and in earned run average against. While playing the more hitter-friendly American League, in a division with the heavy-hitting Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees and that is. The Rays have a seemingly endless line of flame throwers, and its guy that is next up every night.
One has been rookie Brendan McKay. McKay has been the number fourth overall draft pick in the 2017 draft and was on a fast track to the major leagues. With all the injuries, McKay showed what he is capable of as he took his introduction start to the inning and was added to the spinning. He finished that game with six innings, allowing just one hit.
Two begins against the Baltimore Orioles, he also threw five shutout innings after that. He has had some mixed results in his five begins, but to get a guy inexperienced and this youthful its much more about what hes capable of, rather than what he has ever done. As he has all the makings of a All-Star at only twenty five years old and he is capable of being a top of the rotation type of man.
Marco Gonzalez has done a decent job of faking it this season, although the Seattle Mariners do have a genius at this time. Gonzalez has stepped into the big shoes of King Felix at Seattle and was the Mariners day this season. And through April he appeared every bit the role because he had been 5-0 with a 2.80 ERA. But things have been downhill since for its draft pick.
It is not when he cries, that Marco has been all that bad, he has been decent, it is only that the Mariners do not seem to score runs. In his three August starts, this Mariners lineup has supplied only five runs of service complete to him. That is simply within a half and a jog game. Not even King Felix in his prime, was going to win games!
This game is going to be low scoring. The Mariners are dead last in the majors in runs along with the Rays are better since they are in 23rd. Both these teams simply dont score a great deal of runs, and they have great starters on the mound. Yeah, McKay is inconsistent in his key league career, but if youre going to have a great outing, pitching against a Seattle team that has a triple-A lineup will help.
So they ought to be rested as a whole match threw When you look at this Mariners bullpen, they got off last night. The Rays? They got the lowest team ERA in the game from August, along with their bullpen was great. I believe that one goes under tonight. If not for the solid pitching, because of its lack of successful hitting. Feels like 4-1 Tampa Bay if you ask me. Give me the under eight and a half runs in game one from Tampa Bay!
